Spent some time this morning cutting the remaining cams for the "Waiting Room" automata. As you can see I cut the cams from templates generated on my CAD system. Each cam is broken down into ten degree increments so the profiles can be drawn accurately to make the appropriate movement. A little trick I have found is to print the patterns in red so it is easier to see the cut lines when cutting on the scroll saw. Somehow the black lines seemed to disappear into the black scroll saw blade.
Well assembly is finally at hand, and the entire cast is now together at last. Bones, Mom, Flo and Jack are awaiting animation, but already under tight scrutiny from the triage nurse.
Automata is a creative blend of my life interests , engineering, art and woodworking.
