The Story of "A Horse of a Different Colour"
It was a quiet day at the stable. The chickens were feeding, two rooftop crows were eyeing each other suspiciously, and a curious raccoon was watching the proceedings from a hole in the stable roof. Hoss the ranch hand had arrived to do his chores along with Buckshot his canine companion. One of the horses Ed, the chestnut stallion, watched placidly from his stall on the right side of the stable..
As Hoss stood contemplating his day, Buckshot pulled the rope that opened Morpheus' stall and to everyones' surprise today was the day Morpheus would earn his reputation as the "Horse of a Different Colour." You see it had long been rumoured that Morpheus could change his colour at will, but Hoss had never observed it, and he dismissed the story as foolishness. When Buckshot pulled open the door Morpheus was not his normal colour and Hoss became a believer. It should have come as no surprise since Morpheus' great grandfather had been featured in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, but that's a different matter altogether. |
