Musician Profiles
"Percy", the symphony's percussionist, is a long standing member of the group. He was born in a milk cartoon under a drain pipe. The constant dripping noise imparted an early sense of rhythm in him and a perfect choice in his role. He joined the orchestra from the upper west side when he felt it best to leave when a paraffin plant began being built in the neighbourhood. He's been with the orchestra for 24 years. He is not big on social medium but his daughter created a Facebook profile for him that identifies him as nocturnal, lithe, wily, and rhythmic. His favourite meal is ravioli from the alley behind Mama Martino's where he often eats with his best friend Jimmy.
Honey the harpist travels extensivly As spokesperson for the orchestra when not at work, she is often about the neighbourhood talking to community groups, theatre companies and investment groups. She loves it when she dreams. Playing what many to consider to be a romantic instrument she has a endless stream of admirers trying to woo her. She really only has eyes for the Maestro! Many orchestra members suck up to Honey because they suspect a secret relationship that might mean she has significant influence with the Maestro. Her wine and dine lifestyle has lead to a social drinking problem and a propensity to drug use. Her friends tell her he should consider running for mayor of the underground next year.
Louie, the trumpet player, is the most irresponsible of the musicians. He prefers swimming through the sewers and scaring old ladies over performing with the symphony. His punctuality is a problem. Frequently others have to scour the sewers in search of him to drag him to performance. He is a little suspicious of this fellow workers since "being ratted" out by a fellow musicians over his use of a theatre's computer to view inappropriate websites. He has been seen on several occasions with Percy's wife but he claims they are just casual friends. It is been said that Louie has fathered more offspring than the number of garbage cans in the city.
Scar the Maestro, got his name from his time spent in the local rat militia in the trap disposal squad disarming rat traps. He wasn't very good at it and his hands show it - hence his nickname. These injuries also inhibit him from playing instruments himself so he chose a career as a conductor. Scar spent most of his youth working in the Lemming Rehabilitation Centre where he learned an early respect for strong leadership skills. He is a credible Elvis impersonator, and still performs at local birthday parties. He loves music and goes ballroom dancing with his lovely wife Eva on Wednesday evenings. His favourite piece of music is Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train". His favourite movie; Ben
"Clarence" is the clarinet player, an obvious Benny Goodman fan. No one messes with him. Large dogs will cross the road when they see him coming. He emigrated from the north harbour area on a garbage scow after having met Honey on an online dating site. He shortly afterward signed on to play his clarinet with the sewer rat symphony. He and Honey never amounted to anything and he now regularly dates ladies from the local health club. A former WRF (World Rat Federation) wrestler he retains an ardent following and many still collect in vacant lots on Saturday nights when the symphony does not play to watch him brutalize any challengers. Few dare to ask about concussion protocol in the WRF. It is not clear whether this might be the cause of his constant mumbling and fussy thinking!
Fergie is the orchestra's flutist. She is also the orchestra's proud member of the LBTQ community. She was the inspiration for a particular idea from the the movie "American Pie" as it relates to band camp activities. It was modelled after her own behaviour at the "Children of the Sewer" musical summer camp. She plays her instrument deftly and has won numerous awards for her oral skills. Her favourite pop artist is Cher. Her mother had hoped she would grow up to marry a doctor and have lots of children, but is seems parents don't always get what they want! Fergie also plays the pan flute, recorder and kazoo. Her stage presence is considered to be etherial, angelic, and sensual.
"Melody" is the tuba player. Many consider it an odd instrument for a female but she embraces the instrument enthusiastically. She seems to give a little more rock and roll to her performance than some of the others. It is an irony that her name is Melody since she never really gets to play one on the tuba. Melody loves sewer life, wandering the pipes, sitting and watching sunsets at the outfall, and peeking out sewer grates to watch people scurrying by. Melody has a steady boyfriend who works for Rat Co. but she's not sure yet whether he is the one for her. He revels in punk rock, AC/DC, late night raves and collecting handguns. She suspects he may not make a good husband or father. She did consider Chelsea's boyfriend to be cute when she met him at a symphony fundraiser recently though.
Chelsea plays the cello. She is likely the most earnest of the orchestra memebers. She practices endlessly in search of perfecting her musical craft. As a result she is a loner. She lives in a small valve chamber in the 6th Street sewer and can often be heard playing her cello, creating eerie cello music in the night. As a result city sanitation workers are convinced that this area of the subterranean system is haunted. It serves to keep workers away, a situation Chelsea enjoys - more quiet practice time. She is an avid fan of Games of Thrones which she watches religiously and plays the theme on her cello repeatedly. Her dream is to play a solo recital in the large cathedral close to her home. Maybe it will happen one day, but for now her focus is to practice. She attended a recent fundraiser with a new unknown male friend recently but he seemed more interest in Melody than Chelsea!
"Victor" is the number 2 violin. As much as he loves to play the violin he is easily distracted. It was Victor that initially discovered the strange motions that seem to occurring below the performance stage. Without hesitation he laid down his violin and dropped to his knees to investigate. He alerted the number 1 violin, Viola Lyn of his suspicion and she too has stopped playing to investigate. Victor is a little bit of a rebel, although passionate about music he abhors injustice, is suspicious of any politician and and is a avid conspiracy theorist. He has always been suspicious of the Maestro who plays no instrument and would love to expose any scandal that involves him. That's why he peers below!
Viola Lyn is number 1 violin. Viola Lyn relishes her position as the number 1 violin. It suits her ego well. She is the Diva in the orchestra. She often attends public appearances including talk shows and theatrical premieres. She is searching for a Sugar Daddy Rat who can flower her with cash and notoriety. Most others in the orchestra do not like her but tolerate her since she draws attendance to recitals. She considers Vince an ignorant chauvinist with delluionist ideals. This opinion is mostly based on the fact that he blissfuly ignores her. Her secret is that she is from an impoverished family and lives in fear that her past might one day be discovered. Ah the pressures of being a diva! She let Vince sucker her in on this performance though, as she, like him to stops playing to look below. She best be careful this little act of irresponsibility may lower her diva cred!
"Vivian" is a struggling violinist. She has 8 children and an unfaithful husband. Her life is a mess, but when she plays the violin she's losses herself into the music. She plays like a rat possessed. Often other musicians have to tap her on the shoulder to have her stop playing. Luckily she comes from a large family and her mom, dad, aunts and uncles all help with minding the children while she pursues her escape at the symphony. If you know any eligible single rats who enjoy children, send them her way. She could use companionship.
