"Who Slew the Chicken"
This automata was born from a photo of Paul Spooner piece from the late 1990's. It had a conveyor as part of the piece and I decided i had to try one for myself. I applied to this project as a follow-up from the my last piece "A Moment of Silence" where a farmers wife is dispatching a chicken for dinner.
The community law enforcement group, having been reported of the crime, has gathered up enough suspects for a line-up and brought witness of the crime to the station to identify the perpetrator. There is a nun from the local Catholic school who happened to be passing the station, a little girl reminiscent of Anne of Green Gables, the local farmers wife, and a woman dressed as a chicken who was standing on the street trying to attract customers to a local furniture warehouse sale.
One-by-one chickens who say they witnessed the crime pass by the lineup window and point to who they believe is the culprit.
In the meanwhile three sheep are being held in the basement of the police station on an unrelated charge of "drunk and disorderly". Two seem particularly sheepish this morning, likely as a result of hangovers, but one is quite insistent of their innocence. That's another story.
