The story of the "Hula Hoop Girl"
When I was surfing the net one day and saw "The Hula Hooper" designed by Paul Spooner I knew I had to try and make one. It's a remarkable design and a great illusion. I must say getting just the right amount of wiggle was a challenge. She is automated and runs for about a minute after the push of the button on the case. The hula hoop spins and she wiggles seductively dipping her knee. I've nicknamed her Ample Annie for obvious reasons and given her a sophomore letter 'A' on her chest.
Subsequently I rebuilt her drive mechanism to work with a hand crank simply because the bases just too big. I also repainted her shirt to read "Conquergood Creative" to use as an advertising space at exhibitions.
