The Waddling Penguin Volunteers
Every float needs a personal connection with the parade viewers to enhance the parade experience. While the float is fun because of its own story and movement, little children are captivated by cartoonish costumed characters. The little ones sometimes don't even recognize them as real people. It's not hard to love a walking penguin that hands out Swedish Fish candy!
A big thanks to all the walkers, including two not captured in these group photos. Left to right above is Alyssa, Jeff, Pj, Peter, Darren, Laura, Tom, Ian, and lastly me, Al, on the end. Missing in the photo are Donna and John. There was some freezing rain and very little salt on the road in the staging area, so footing was treacherous for awhile, but we all stayed upright. Funny how no one offered to slide on their belly on the ice like real penguins sometimes do.
