This automata project is a good one for someone who wants to learn about making a more complex mechanism. The plan is 55 pages long and has 25 pages of step-by-step instructions with photos, and 18 pages of drawings and templates. It requires basic woodworking skills. The character is not carved although you can choose to add one that is. There are suggestions on how to change the depicted sports motif and team identification.
