I am almost complete with the mechanism portion of my current project and will be meeting with my client this week before performing the final assembly. I created this short video of the mechanism in motion to post on the blog. The upper works will not be shown until the project is delivered. Yes I am still alive. It has been some time since my last post. A little time over the holidays away with the family, a week or so felling under the weather, a few winter storms keeping away from my shop, and some finally time spent working on a commission piece seems have kept me from my website. For any regular readers I apologize... well, a little anyway.

The current piece I am working on is built on a circular platform which is a little unusual since reaching into the interior for final hook-up can be challenging but it suits the themed motif the client wished for this piece. Below is a view of the mechanism  portion of the project while under construction. It will feature three separate characters with a total of 13 motion components. It has a 8 to 1 gear reduction, which seems to be the standard for me these days and uses hand cut gears instead of pinwheels as the drive mechanism. I will post a few more photos, and maybe a video of the mechanism but I will not be able to post photos or videos of the animated portion yet as the automata is to be a surprise gift. I will post complete photos and videos after the piece has been given in February.
