The subject in the chair is coming along nicely. However he has to remain a mystery for a while since he is a look-a-like gift for someone who may read the site. A few final touches and it is back to finishing the mechanism. He is my first commissioned piece!

We've been going through a hot spell like most everyone else in North America. As a result I've been spending more time in the lake with the grandchildren than in the shop.
But I'm back at it now working on a cottage oriented piece. It starts with lounge chair. Some call them Adirondack or Muskoka chairs. They are traditionally common in cottage country. Here's a photo of the chair. The seat is about 2" across between the arms. Eventually it will have an occupant. Thanks to many if the visitors that came to my site after seeing my customer article in the July 11th newsletter!
Al It always seems to take longer to put the finishing touches on things than it should. After making a cake, an ice cream sundae, some cutlery and an errand shoe the automata "Check Please" is finally completed. I will add a video and storyboard on a dedicated webpage and automata gallery in the next few days.
I was going to call the piece "A Sudden Escalation in Their Relationship" but the title label was getting to be larger than the piece so I opted for the shorter title. I hope Marilyn, Vern and Luigi turn your crank so to speak! He's a preview photo taken at the Cafe D'Amor. |
