Longest days of the year roughing it out at the lake, sitting in the evening watching the sunset. Ah the life of an automata maker! What do you mean not everyone does this. I am lucky! I’ll admit it. I am roughing it out though. That is roughing out my polystyrene car for the Santa Day parade. Here is a photo below. Tomorrow is contour day to hopefully have it take a more attractive shape. It has now gotten to big for my shop, so I’ll work outside under a tent if it rains tomorrow. There is a grandson, some penguin waddlers, a spare penguin, ( maybe for the tow vehicle) and 1 of three wheels, not turning yet I might add. Lots more to come.

If you follow my blog you may remember that I had posted some pictures and video of some penguins I was making for this years Santa Day Parade in Fenelon Falls. Although it was about 27C degrees today I thought I should do a little more so things don’t get ahead of me, so I have started building my car for they float.
Here is two fenders and a running board under construction. You should be able to gauge the size. I hope to stay on this for a few days. More photos soon. A couple of weeks ago at Automatacon 2018 among the many people we saw we met Laura and Richard Partington from England. They are both serious enthusiasts and seem to enjoy travelling. Coordinating their trip to go to the convention they planned to spend some time traveling around the northeast US. On hearing Toronto was on the itinerary we discussed them dropping into my shop for a visit.
Today Laura and Richard and spent the afternoon at our place talking automata, and comparing comparing cultural norms. They we were lovely folks and we had a lovely time. Thanks for stopping by! Al The latest completed automata project "Snowbirds" now has a page on the website. So read the story of Maude and Bernie and watch the video on the Snowbirds page. I've also added a page for my grandson's automata project the African Lion Safari, on my webpage. It has been on my YouTube channel but I added it to the website to share the story.
