Migrating Caribou

I ran across n automata piece on the internet called "Migrating Elephants" which captured my imagination so I decided that I had to have something similar. I felt I should do something a little different so I chose a Canadian migratory mammal for my piece. Every year thousands of caribou cross the Arctic tundra in their annual migration covering long distances. If they had the assistance of these little jet assisted winged backpacks their trip could be less tiring.

This is the piece still in progress, with detail carving and painting of the caribou yet to occur. I also intend to add two small evergreen trees on the left end of the top plate. While it wasn't my original intention a few red bows around the caribou's necks will make this a nice Christmas piece! When finished I will post a video on YouTube.

The Squadron is ready to Leave the Hanger!

Finally after a few setbacks the squadron is ready to leave the hanger! There are 5 raccoons, 1 elephant and 1 pig all equipped with their jet packs and ready to leave my shop. I will offering these items for sale after they are numbered and catalogued. Watch the website for further details.

Assembled as a group they remind me of the evil flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. I saved three wing assemblies so I could make one larger multiple piece for my own collection.

No aeroplan miles needed!

Sidelined for a While

I've been sidelined of late with an leg infection that required IV antibiotics. Not fun. It has restricted my mobility and kept me from the shop for a few weeks.The antibiotics even seem to cloud my brain so not much happening on the design front either. I think I am on the road to recovery and hope to be back at it soon!
