Been a while since I have blogged. Sorry for the long absence. Here is the start of my current new project starring a neurotic leopard seal being terrorized by clever penguins in an act of revenge for relentless torment of their numbers. Shown below, under construction, Nero is trapped on a floating piece of ice to be surrounded by a ruse. Nero's eyes will dart side to side franticly keeping nervous eyes on the surrounding action. Below is the mechanism installed in his head that makes this work. These things are always a challenge because they are so small for my fat fingers. The eyes are 1/4" diameter, 1/2" apart. The distance from the vertical actuator shaft going down through the body and the small vertical pin in the cross bar is 1/4". Once assembled, and tested for movement, its time to glue the top of the head on and keep on building. Finally here is Nero all painted with eyes that move side to side. You can see the actuator rod for the eye movement protruding down into the jar used as a stand for now. Penguins yet to be added to the scene!
